Genius writing, casting and performances!

I could listen to these quirky episodes over and over, and I have for years! Nothing else like it in the history of radio. It was perfectly cast, amazingly well written, a wonderful length, and was reliably full of stellar performances day in and day out. No show could be this consistently entertaining without top-grade direction, so kudos to all in that capacity. The Uncle Fletcher character was truly pure genius IMO, and although it's really hard to choose, I'd have to say that he is my favorite character overall -- judging by how much he made me laugh out loud. A kindly and well-meaning old half-wit who lived all by himself in his own special universe twenty-four hours a day. Many, many THANKS to those responsible for this incredible website!!

This show was funny just because it was so weird. It was weird because it was true to life. Especially small town life in the Midwest, in the 1940's. Jean Shepherd believed Paul Rymer, the writer for this show, was the best American humorist since Mark Twain. If you have never heard Vic and Sade, you have missed a true cultural gem.
