Sometimes the author rambles but this is full of fascinating details about historical events and personalities. Definitely a pleasure for history buffs. Thanks once more to Pamela for her efforts to bring these older histories to a wider audience.

The whole series of books by Justin McCarthy are a detailed and well written chronicle from the Glorious Revolution to the Victorian Age. A little bit too Whig History, but as even as possible.
