Mae West Banned From Radio

Mae West was a guest on the December 12, 1937 episode of The Chase and Sanborn Hour, where she played an unrepentant Eve in an "Adam and Eve" skit by Arch Oboler. This performance caused an uproar, leading the FCC to determine that it "violated the ethics of decency." NBC issued an apology during the next show.

Following this incident, Mae West did not appear on the radio again until 1950.
