Reviews

Tres Bon!

(5 stars)

This is the fifth or sixth novel I've listened to that was read by Elizabeth Klett. While I still prefer the tactile feeling of the printed page I must say that listening to Ms. Klett has been an eye-opener. The first and last work I listened to was John Irving's Garp which if I remember correctly was some twenty audio cassettes. I was underwhelmed. I don't think of Elizabeth Klett so much as a reader but rather as a performer who clearly deserves an Oscar or a Tony for her readings. In this particular novel she is indeed Jane Eyre come alive. Notice I have not said anything about her mastery of French pronunciation which if standing alone would be a bravura performance. I am in awe.

Excellent Narration

This review is entirely dedicated to Elizabeth's narration. It was only due to her I was able to complete Jane Eyre. Much before I tried it on audible, narrated by Thandie Newton and she bored me out within 3 hours. But seeing the positive acclaim that this book have I refused to give up on it and thought to try again later. Luckily I found it here and thought to give it a try and not once I ever found it boring. For me Elizabeth Klett was the narrator that helped me complete this book.

My daughter and I loved this performance. Miss Klett's voce and Bronte's narrative made some wonderful car trip and bedtime story memories for us. I thought Helen's story might be too emoruonal, but it wasn't that, but rather Jane's departure from Thirnfield that had her sobbing. But the ending made up for all. Thank you, Elizabeth, for helping me introduce great literature to my daughter. "I like the feelings of the book. I like the reader. I like how she read it slowly and spoke clearly. Chapter 38 was the best." -- Mae, age 6

Lovingly read

I enjoyed this reading very much. Ms. Klett is an excellent reader who brings the books she reads to life. I liked Jane Eyre to start with, but this reading gave me an even better understanding of the author's words. Brava!

Amazing!

I truly admire Ms. Klett's patience. she's read every line, every chapter with so much passion. She even changed her voice for each character, I must say she's a brilliant voice actor or an audiobook reader. Listening to her was a privilege.

Beautiful story, superb reader

Real conflict, true love, an integrity-driven character and a little steamy romance mixed into an incredible classic. Elizabeth Klett is outstanding and gives each character his own tone and personality without being over the top. Just beautiful.

So Well Done!

Elizabeth Klett is an amazing reader! I would probably listen to the dictionary were she the one reading it to me. I already loved Jane Eyre when I started listening, having read it twice before. However, Elizabeth Klett's narration added depth to what I already loved about the book, and certainly did a much better job with the French portions than my mind could ever conceive. She did such a great job with all the characters. Each one was unique and accurate. I would highly recommend this recording to anyone, but particularly those who don't enjoy classics due to the more complicated language. Elizabeth Klett, by her inflection and deep understanding of the text, makes the language easy to follow and get deep meaning out of. Enjoy!

Elizabeth Klett is the best reader ever!

Jane Eyre is my all time favorite book and Elizabeth Klett does a fantastic job bringing it to life. I've listened to this audiobook in its entirety 3 times. Each voice is distinctly different and the variations in tone or accent stay consistent to each character throughout the book. In addition, to my untrained ears the French pronunciation seems to be on point (but take this with a grain of salt as I only know a few words in French).
