Front and Center
Burns and Allen, Ronald Reagan
by
Front and Center is a U.S. Army recruiting radio program that combined entertainment with a message about military service. This broadcast features Burns and Allen alongside Ronald Reagan, bringing familiar performers to a program built around music and comedy.
The show presents its material in a variety format, with performers contributing comic and musical entertainment within the broader recruiting-program framework. The mix of popular personalities and light entertainment gives the broadcast a distinctly mid-century radio feel.
Listeners can enjoy the contrast between the performers’ comic presence and the program’s service-oriented purpose. Burns and Allen’s appearance, together with Reagan, makes this installment a snapshot of radio entertainment serving both as a showcase for well-known talent and as a public-facing Army program.
