I can't say enough good things about this

(5 stars)

Jason Mills wonderful North of England-accented reading of this text is an absolute delight. The language is a very colourful example of Jacobean pastiche about larger-than-life heroic characters. But it is that every page abounds with beautiful poetical descriptions, unhesitatingly rendered in this reading, that is the chief joy for me. In real life, of course, characters like this would be horrible, in their disregard for "lesser people and races, but in this context of high fantasy it's all very inspiring. Perhaps it even still gives valuable insight into the motivations of the great and bad. This is one of my favourite books of all time and is here done justice.

Great reader! Great book! It's a pastiche of various myths and legends (mostly Norse and Greek), woven into a new heroic fantasy with its own unique setting. It's got Witch Lords and Demon Lords engaged in battles so fierce and bloody someone should write an epic metal album dedicated to their feats. Oh, and all of it is written in the archaic language of a 16th century epic. If, like me, you read Le Morte d'Arthur and lamented the fact there wasn't more fantasy in that style, this book is for you.

an excellent High fantasy story well-read. The vocabulary is intentionally archaic, but the story is easy enough to follow. Quite creative, too.

Wonderful reading

Not enough Gay Sex

(5 stars)

We, the discerning justice warriors of the Americas, do not need great plots and interesting stories. We need to be lectured about inequality and the universality of butt sex. I demand more butt sex. Butt sex needs to be put in every story and every conceivable and inconceivable location. Failure to do this means author is a holocaust denier.
