This Country of Ours, Part 3
Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall
Read by Kara Shallenberg (1969-2023)
Another fine history book for children! Published in 1917, Marshall's book of stories from the history of the United States begins with accounts of exploration and settlement, and ends with the presidency of Woodrow Wilson.
This is Part 3: Stories of New England, from chapter 22 (The Story of the Pilgrim Fathers) to chapter 34 (The Witches of Salem). Read along and view the original illustrations at mainlesson.com.

I am homeschooled and I started reading along in this book with the audio. Kara did a really good job the way she goes slowly but not to slow through the text, helps me understand things better. Thank you!

Superb and timeless history staple

This book, in all its volumes, is a treasure. We use it combined with other sorts of narrative history and spines. A solid staple for our homeschool. My children really like this book we read it along with the Librivox recording. Anytime we need a history refresher we know where to look. "An Island Story" is equally superb.
lovely book

There are details of American history here that I had never knew before. Kara has a great voice and inflection for reading this type of book.
