Reviews

Easy listening, quite enjoyable book.

(3.5 stars)

This book aimed originally at children I believe, is much easier to follow and understand than many books on here. It is about a girl with such a positive it annoys people! However when something attitude, happens she finds it hard to maintain this attitude but all the people she has met ans helped and encouraged throughout the book support her. A lot of it is rather twee. It also uses the word 'ejaculated' referring to speech! It is read well. The narrator and woman who 'plays' pollyanna has a very expressive voice. The fact that different people play the characters (but it is still read as written) probably made it easier to follow and more fun. Some of the voices are a bit muffled and hard to hear and not too expressive but they are not the main character so it doesnt matter too much. I did feel it lacked imagination. If you can get past the tweeness of it you could find it enjoyable as I did.

an excellent full cast dramatic reading

the readers all did a great job. i really appreciate the full cast dramatic readings! this book would mostly appeal to children, girls likely. but it has wonderful lessons in it for anyone of any age. a younge girl who is now an orphan moves in with an aunt who takes her in just to fulfill her "duty". the little girl transfers the towns people and soon her own family with her personality.

Great job!

Thank you for the wonderful dramatic reading of Pollyanna. Our whole family enjoyed it. I'd never read this book before and I enjoyed it, too. We do some audiobooks as read-alouds for our homeschool program and we also really enjoyed Lord Fauntleroy which was done by the same cast. I am so grateful for LibriVox and for these particular volunteer readers. Thank you! Thank you!

I Am So GLAD to have found this book!

(4.5 stars)

I am sooooo GLAD to have found this audio book! My pastor’s wife told me about it when my daughter was a child and we read it together. That has been 20-25 years ago so I was excited and GLAD to find this and listen. It was well done!!!!

Heartwarming

The ending was a bit abrupt, but the good lessons of 'The Game' more than made up for it. In today's culture, I couldn't help but cringe over Mr. Pendleton's desire for Pollyanna to live with him, , but I just reminded myself that once upon a time, it would have been fine.

Great book, decently read

This is a wonderful story-uplifting and encouraging to all who listen. The narration is pretty good though all the readers aren’t equal in quality and ability. Still, I would recommend it. A good single narrator would probably be better, though.

This story would likely appeal to young girls and women of all ages. I so enjoyed listening to it with my 10 year old grandaughter!
