The Wendigo
Algernon Blackwood
Read by Amy Gramour
Another camper tale, this time set in the Canadian wilderness. A hunting party separates to track moose, and one member is abducted by the Wendigo of legend. Robert Aickman regarded this as "one of the (possibly) six great masterpieces in the field". (Introduction by Wikipedia) (1 hr 59 min)

Algernon Blackwood really stirs the imagine with this dark story full of isolation and horror. A definite precursor to the movie 'Predator'. Fantastically performed by the reader.

The material world tricks people to commit evil acts in order to acquire resources. Wendigo isn't a Hollywood spook that hangs out in the forest. Its something much more horrific and its territory is any landscape where people live and its evil is carried out through you and I.
