Ethel and Albert

(4,75 Sterne; 2 Bewertungen)

The Ethel and Albert radio series was by the incredibly prolific Peg Lynch, who wrote and acted in the series. The series started in the early 1940s and would eventually move to television. The program was a husband and wife comedy, written in natural conversation. It found the most mundane and plain things of life to be incongruous and amusing. It was not a laugh-out-loud funny program, but one that had an appreciation for the laughter that could be found in everyday home life, which reflected the real life experiences of the audience. Peg starred as Ethel Albuckle, with Alan Bunce as Albert for its most popular years on radio and during the television series. These recordings are from the original transcriptions with dates verified from Peg Lynch's own papers. Until their posting here, these recordings were believed to be lost. * * * These recordings are part of the Joe Hehn Memorial Collection. Mr. Hehn (1931-2020) was a pioneering collector of radio recordings when the hobby emerged in the 1960s. Digitizing his collection of reel tapes and discs is the effort of a wide range of North American volunteers, and includes assistance of some international collectors. The groups supporting this effort with their funds, time, technology and skills are the Old Time Radio Researchers and a small group of transcription disc preservationists who refer to themselves as the "The Knights of the Turning Table."

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
