Le Comte de Monte-Cristo is an adventure novel and one of the author's most popular works. He completed the work in 1844. The story takes place in France, Italy, islands in the Mediterranean and in the Levant during the historical events of 1815-1838 (from just before the Hundred Days to the reign of Louis-Philippe of France). Utterly classic book, and fantastic story, masterfully read by Mr. Clarke, who is definitely one of the top 10 LibriVox readers. My most sincere thanks to Mr. Clarke for reading this, I would recommend this audiobook to anyone looking for a nice, long listen! :)

David Clarke made this book such an enjoyable listen. I laughed, I cried and I looked forward to listening every day. The story itself is truly incredible, I see why it's a classic. Thank you so much Mr Clarke

I love this. David Clark is an amazing reader. He used different voices that made it easy for the listener to understand the story better. More power to you, Mr. Clark. I'm a huge fan.

This was a great book to listen to during my daily commute. Thanks so much to the reader who did a wonderful, professional job, complete with a ton of different accents. The story itself has a great beginning, and if you can stick it out through 20 or so tedious chapters in the middle, it does pick up and get much more exciting again (like it was in the beginning) about 2/3 of the way through.

I put off reading this for so long bc of the length but a friend whose opinions often match mine told me it was worth and oh boy this was so good. And the reader does a fantastic job he does multiple accents as well as speaks French and Italian in some places. This guy is probably one of the best readers I've come across on librivox I wish he had recorded more

q story that one eill not easily forget. the goal to strive for is to wait and hope. there truly is a reason GOD says vengeance is mine. there is much to learn from the count as he returns to Edmond Dontes. the reader of this version 3 , makes one believe the count is telling you his path of life as his language are real, and characters come to life. wait and hope.

Great reading, although the voice for the main character was not what I would have originally imagined. But that is personal preference and I obviously can't expect Librivox readers to read my mind.:) This book is a masterpiece. The complexity of the plot is incredible. I love it so much. You connect with the characters and really feel for them throughout the book! Big fan!!
