A Backwater American Mystery

Josiah Miller
This is the story of a young girl named Phoebe who must clear the name of the aspiring clerk who is accused (rightly or wrongly) of stealing a large quantity of cash and bonds. While this is surprising of Baum, who is more widely known for his Oz books, it is actually even better than those famed works of literature. The readers are all reasonably good, and I would certainly suggest this to anyone fond of stories like "the Great Brain" (Fitzgerald I think) or "the Castaways of the Flying Dutchman" (Brian Jacques).
a good read

Totally enjoyed this plot. Though I had figured it out almost but couldn’t fit all the pieces until the end was revealed. Thanks to all the good readers.

Very well written by Frank L Baum. A fun story with a surprising ending. A worthy read. This would be great read aloud in single chapters and used as cliffhangers.
Enjoyable Book
