Melmoth The Wanderer
Charles Robert Maturin
Leído por LibriVox Volunteers

One of the first horror novels, it tells the story of Melmoth, who sells his soul so he could have an extended life. Throughout the novel, he wanders around the world in search of someone who would replace him and lift his curse. It is known for its many sub-plots, the true horror it makes one feel, and its criticism of the Catholic church. This is certainly one of the most important books of all times, quoted in countless other works, and praised by authors and critics alike. - Summary by Wikipedia and Stav Nisser. (28 hr 38 min)

Reseñas

A LibriVox Listener
This book is wacky and winding. It's an interesting read that I recommend. However, I had to give up in the last chapters because I could not deal with the reader. I appreciate his attempt to dramatize the reading but I couldn't take it. It's a shame too because he's got a great voice and if he had just read normally and eliminated all the vocal fry he would have been great. Wish there was a version with one reader, though that would be a hefty undertaking
one reader was so hard to listen to, Im afraid I gave up. Sadly.

various performance of readers but overall enjoyable
A Fine, Fine Story and a Magnificent Production!

Great Southern Bear
The finest effort to produce Melmoth the Wanderer in an audio format that I have ever seen or heard. Truly insightful into the complexities and emotions of the characters and utterly faithful to what I feel were the author's intentions.

Final Sensations
great book but the reading clearly cuts off mid sentence MANY times
