Bright Star - Single Episodes
Bright Star, also known as The Irene Dunne and Fred MacMurray Show, featured big film stars to enhance its appeal and attract listeners. Irene Dunne, celebrated for her films with Cary Grant, left the film industry in 1952 to preserve her legacy as Hollywood’s First Lady. Despite being nominated for five Academy Awards for films like The Awful Truth and Love Affair, she never won. In 1959, President Eisenhower appointed her as the alternate U.N. delegate of the General Assembly.
Fred MacMurray, known for his role as Steve Douglas on My Three Sons, also starred in many Disney films, including The Shaggy Dog and Son of Flubber. Bright Star lasted only one season and revolves around Susan Armstrong (Dunne), the editor of a struggling newspaper, the Hillsdale Morning Star. MacMurray plays George Harvey, an idealistic star reporter who often clashes with his editor over stories. Their excellent comedic timing makes for a charming show that will delight fans of both actors.

Outstanding

These half hour shows are a pure joy to listen to. In my mind I am watching an old black and white movie. The scripts are well written and the actors have a great on air chemistry. I'd like to find more shows like this...and with about 70 years of recorded shows here at Internet Archive...I just might.
"last show", fluff

The announcer says that the show "will be back week" at the end of the alleged episode #52 The show is what it is - a two-star vehicle with basicallu the same plot repeated over and over
light, predictable, fun and very well done.

Irene Dunn Fred's MacMurray!

Nothing like an apostrophe "S" turning two names into a risque sentence. Or, we can jumble them up: "Fred Dunn Irene's MacMurray"! Anyways... Bet you didn't know that she could sing. Irene had such a beautiful singing voice. Here's a little sample of how truly talented Irene Dunn was. This clip is from the 1939 movie musical "Showboat". Enjoy. https://youtu.be/1jcC3LOHDhA
