Applauding in Borneo

This is a very credible sci-fi thriller...many differing backdrops and story lines that all come together well at the end. A wonderful nod to 50s and 60s space opera....but written in a contemporary style. It's long...but the character development and parallel story lines are engrossing. I never tired a bit. Also...very competent narration.

Just wanted to add this, perhaps sheepishly. I listen to lots of podcast story's and ALWAYS have difficulty with the characters. I have trouble remembering if "John" is the goody FBI agent and if "Peter" is the friend of "Mary" I wish ALL podcast authors would provide a link to ...

Wasn't too sure about this book when I first listened to it, mostly because of some technical issues that seemed to be a bit more than just a few mistakes. Lots of repeated sentences, as if the author didn't catch them, it's pretty normal to miss a few here and ...

I really like to story so far, I am episode 3 now. My only complaint is that because the author doesn't use different voices for his characters, I have a bit of trouble figuring out who is talking. thanks for the great story

The value of the audiobook was greatly diminished by the horrible quality of the audio controls. When I returned to the story part way into a chapter, it would start over from the beginning of the chapter. When I wanted to rewind a minute or two, it would go back to the beginning of the chapter. When I wanted to skip ahead a few seconds, it would go back to the beginning of the chapter. Worst audiobook ever because of these issues. The story line was interesting but turned into a soap opera, the constant gnashing of emotions at ends of chapters, sometimes in the middle of chapters was just grotesque. How often does a character have too rehash the same emotion without adding to the value of the story; from my perspective, rehashing the same emotions, so often, just added listening time without adding interest or detail. I call this the soap opera factor, General hospital meets scifi and scifi suffers. There are way too many characters without sufficient value to the story, just filler.

The story was awesome. The plot had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. The ending was a nice cliff hanger and potential lead-in to the next installment of this series. I just hope that there will be a next installment of this series. The only complain ...

I was fascinated by John's take on the different players. The aliens, the men in black plus two other axes! I thought it truly original stuff. I didn't understand some of the down time with Jonah hanging out on earth but I totally worth a listen.
