Science fiction is a genre encompassing imaginative works that take place in this world or that of the author’s creation where anything is possible. The only rules are those set forth by the author. The speculative nature of the genre inspires thought and plants seeds that have led to advances in science. The genre can spark an interest in the sciences and is cited as the impetus for the career choice of many scientists. It is a playing field to explore social perspectives, predictions of the future, and engage in adventures unbound into the richness of the human mind. (A.Gramour) (9 hr 4 min)

Critiques

very good stories real good readers highly recommended

A mixed bag of tales

(3.5 stars)

Dave Grothmann is becoming a favourite reader of mine. His readings are always a good listen and he makes a sizable contribution to this collection. Josh Horowitz does a great job too. I found the heavy breathing of one reader really off putting and had to skip. Another reader has the triple lock of poor audio quality, poor cadence and pitch. It’s unfortunate as with better recordings I bet he’d be more listenable. I especially enjoyed Door To Infinity and Half Past Alligator which were new to me.

another fine collection

Another good collection of 20 stories individually reviewed. I’ve read/listened to some of them before.

mixed bag

(3 stars)

Having listened to most of these SF anthologies this was a very mixed bag. About half were enjoyable. Several of the rest were badly recorded as if in an echo chamber or just uninteresting stories.
