Botched reading

Marigold
So first I love this book which is why I listened to it. But after listening to this botched audio, maybe I'll just read my physical copy. For instance "Methodist" was pronounced "meTHOdist," "islets" as "izluts," "sew" as "soo," "clergy" as "clerghy," and the name of the main character (Valancy) was pronounced four different ways. Surely one pronunciation is enough?? Librivox, isn't there any quality control before a book is added to the list of titles???? Or how about at least giving each reader a list of correct pronunciations of characters and places so there is some sort of harmonious connection between the different readers so the listeners can actually enjoy the book?? I gave the two stars for the few decent readers I did find in this audio.
Good Book!

The 4 stars are for the book with one star taken off for the readers. It’s too hard to try to adjust to new voices all the time. The readers themselves were pretty good, but I thought it would be better if only one person did the whole book!
charming

The text is wonderful, I have read the book many times. The LibriVox audio is charming! I really like the different accents and styles of reading. It's so nice knowing so many different people love this book enough to devote their time to reading a chapter or two. Some readers are better than others...

I read this book, gave it to my daughter and enjoyed listening to the librivox readers version. This book reminds me of Gene Stratton Porter novels that have a lot of natural world descriptions along with a story you want to hear. Most of the readers were enjoyable. Thank you for reading.

I love this story of finding freedom from an oppressive life! The Blue Castle has long been a favorite book of mine. The readers are mostly good. A few were in need of coaching in pronunciation or expression, but not bad enough to make me quit listening.

a wonderful entertaining story. It is a little similar to Veronica decided to die by Paolo Coelo

Lacks the charm of the Anne books

Although things do get better as the book goes along, I really had trouble getting into this book by the author of The Anne of Green Gables series. Where Anne is just bristles with charm, even when she's getting in trouble, our heroine here just seems to feel sorry for herself. She does finally get the nerve to strike out on her own, but even then she just doesn't have that same pizzazz that Anne does. The narration for this one is pretty uneven, but I was glad to find it available.
