This is a sequel to Kidnapped. Many thought Kidnapped ended quite abruptly. The reason is Stevenson planned on writing a sequel. Catriona takes up the story of David Balfour on the same day Kidnapped ends. He must now try to clear his name and the name of James Stewart of the Appin murder. This will not be easy because the Campbells want James Stewart to hang.

Good story, but only if you have read the first one. I hope Davey enjoyed his bipolar wife.

Excellent book, some may not hold it in such high regard as the first book, but in my heart I love this story as much as the first. True it does not have the adventurism of Kidnapped, but it is just as special in its own way, delving more into relationships between the characters

I didn't care for this nearly as much as I did Kidnapped. Too much soap opera romance. I found the title character exasperating and, if I had been Davey, I would have quitted her early on. The reader made the best of what he had to work with
