The Rough Road
Gelesen von Simon Evers
The book tells the story of "Doggie" Trevor, who, having been wrapped in cotton wool since babyhood, becomes a snobbish rich dilettante. All this changes as World War I begins and Doggie takes a commission in the Army – with near disastrous results. However, he takes stock of his life and later signs on as a simple English Tommy. He fights in France alongside his friends and the book tells of his improving fortunes, his engagement to equally snobbish Peggy, and his adventures amidst the horrors of life in the trenches – and the unexpected consequences, as he travels the rough road to a happy conclusion. - Summary by Simon Evers

A complete life story.

Ifound this book extremely interesting. I like narratives of early 19th century society and challenges. As this is story of a man from childhood make a good coverage WW1 is satisfied me considerably. I really enjoyed all the characters that were delivered perfectly by the narrator. The storyline is very interesting. The connection between the protagonist and the antagonist was resolved very smoothly towards the end. I think you'll enjoy this story. It had just enough drama and intrigue and love story. They kept it moving right along. Most importantly, it was wrapped up nicely.

A great, great story. Love, honor, fighting. Just grand! Simon Evers, the narrator, was wonderful & he is a pleasure. as well. I slowed down the talking just a bit, and it made listening near perfection.
