Classic Story Well Delivered By Cullom

(5 stars)

A classic in genre and metaphysical interrogation. The reader expressively delivers the text without indulging in crafty efforts to showcase her gifts of dramatic characterization. Of the three readings I found available, this should be found the most intelligent, sensitive, and listenable.

Henry James' classic tale, fantastically read.

I cannot imagine a more suitable voice than Miss Cullum's for this haunting tale. It's very subtle, and because of that, very, very powerful. When I initially tried reading the book, it was always at the wrong times. Sometimes I was too tired or sleepy, sometimes the environment In was too busy... Miss Cullum on the other hand, really brings this story to life. She narrates it quite "matter of fact", which makes the inevitable climax all the more chilling. I recommend Miss Cullum's rendition over reading the actual book, and of course over the countless films that have been made of it, no matter how good some of those were. Five out of five stars from me. Looking forward to hearing more ghost stories read by her. ❤️

Still one of those stories that lingers on your mind after reading it, I think mainly because it doesn't feel that it has ended. Great narration by Sandra Cullum.
