OTRR My Friend Irma Singles

(4.2 Sterne; 3 Bewertungen)

My Friend Irma was developed in-house by CBS staff who aimed to create new programming that could be pitched and sold to sponsors. This innovative approach marked a departure from the previous model where advertising agencies handled the entire process. The show debuted on April 11, 1947, featuring Marie Wilson as the lovable but not-too-bright Irma Peterson and Cathy Lewis as her roommate Jane Stacy.

Throughout its run, My Friend Irma became a staple in the top-15 ratings, with its engaging storylines and memorable characters. The show not only entertained audiences but also paved the way for adaptations into films and television series. With a mix of humor and heart, it captured the essence of friendship and the everyday challenges faced by its characters.

Decent sitcom of the era

(4 Sterne)

It's amusing: bright capable secretary takes a sweet but dumb roommate, with some nice supporting characters, decent scripts, good production and sound. To the modern ear, the "dumb blonde girl" character is often unpleasant. But Marie Wilson as Irma was good at the role, and I still find it easy to laugh at many of these shows. Special notes: Gloria Gordon, Hans Conreid, and in particular John Brown, are all top-rate supporting actors and add a lot to the shows. If you like old radio sitcoms, you really must check this one out--there's a reason it ran so long. --ken ac4rd
