He tells the stories of Pappy Lee O'Daniel, who used station XER to sell flour and become Senator for Texas, the preachers who sold splinters from the cross and signed photographs of Jesus Christ, and Wolfman Jack, the man who would go on to become the first great rock 'n' roll DJ. The story of a radio legend

(4 stars)

This is a nice 2 part BBC radio documentary about the Mexican radio stars. Pappy O'Daniels, The light crust doughboys, The goat gland doctor all appear. The only omission would be Mother Maybelle and her Carter clan appearing on behalf of the goat gland doctor. This series focuses primarily on Wolfman Jack and his role in Mexican pirate radio and his later move to California radio.
