Written by John Hay, a naturalist and co-founder of the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, The Great Beach is an exploration into the nature and beauty of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. His passion for Cape Cod is evident as he writes of the wildlife, sea life, and vegetation of this narrow peninsula. Hay includes much of the history of this area as a backdrop, along with his concerns for the future of this land due to the uptick of tourism. - Summary by Phyllis Vincelli (5 hr 55 min)

Nature at work!

(3.5 stars)

I always thought of Cape Cod as a charming village of tourist shops and fishing coves. This book is about the sculpting of an ever changing, harsh landscape by wind and water, rather than the story of it’s people. It is interesting and well read, and worth listening to from a n aturalist’s point of view.
