The Clitheroe Kid : Series 2 : Transcription Service discs

The Clitheroe Kid   :  Series 2 Transcription Service recordings from the radio comedy series starring Jimmy Clitheroe . Episodes from Series 2 (1959), in 320 Kbps iTunes format. All of these recordings are sourced from Transcription Service vinyl discs, hence are high quality recordings, although they are slightly edited (compared to the original transmission tape) due to the limited running time of such discs, except No Match for the Kid , which is an off-air recording made by a listener, included here because it's the oldest surviving episode. In general, the Transcription Service issued vinyl disc recordings for about half of the broadcasts in each series, beginning with Series 2, hence only half of the aired episodes survive today in high quality. Many other episodes survive as off-air tapes recorded by listeners, but often those are of only moderate audio quality. Addendum : There are no episodes from this show known to survive prior to Series 2 in 1959. However, you might want to seek out the documentary about Jimmy Clitheroe entitled All There With My Cough Drops , which includes some surviving extracts (recorded by Jimmy himself) from radio shows he made in the period 1955-58:   https://archive.org/details/the-clitheroe-kid-documentaries None of those extracts can be definitely identified as deriving from any specific broadcast, but they do seem to mostly be derived from a radio series he made in that period entitled Call Boy , a 1950s radio variety series in which he starred.
