Cocoanut Grove Ambassadors
Love Is the Sweetest Thing
par
The Cocoanut Grove Ambassadors were a popular dance orchestra associated with the Cocoanut Grove ballroom at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Their broadcasts bring the sound of a hotel dance band into the home, with polished ensemble playing and a repertoire shaped by the popular songs and dance music of the era.
“Love Is the Sweetest Thing” is identified here as the featured song. The listening experience centers on the orchestra’s performance rather than a spoken story: melody, rhythm, and the character of the band carry the program.
For listeners drawn to vintage popular music, this recording offers an intimate glimpse of the elegant ballroom-band style linked to the Cocoanut Grove name.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
