CBS Radio Workshop
Season of Disbelief and Hail and Farewell
CBS Radio Workshop was an anthology program that brought radio drama and other forms of storytelling to the air. Each broadcast offered a self-contained listening experience, with the series serving as a showcase for imaginative writing and performance rather than following one continuing story.
The program explored a range of dramatic material, using actors, dialogue, and sound to create its worlds for the listener. Its anthology format made room for different subjects and styles from one installment to the next, while the title Season of Disbelief and Hail and Farewell identifies the work featured here.
The result is a crafted, theatrical style of radio: stories unfold through voices and audio atmosphere, inviting close attention to the performances and the way sound carries the action. It offers a window into the variety and ambition of mid-century American radio drama.
