The Damon Runyon Theater
The Lemon Drop Kid
von Damon Runyon
The Damon Runyon Theater brings the stories of writer Damon Runyon to radio as dramatic adaptations. Its world is the colorful New York underworld of gamblers, hustlers, show people, and other vivid characters, told in Runyon’s distinctive vernacular.
Each broadcast presents a self-contained story, with actors bringing Runyon’s sharply drawn personalities and lively dialogue to life. The series blends crime, comedy, and sentiment, often finding warmth and humanity among characters who live by their own codes.
The result is a theatrical, character-driven listening experience: streetwise and humorous, but also attentive to loyalty, romance, and unexpected kindness. This recording is titled “The Lemon Drop Kid.”
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
