Ma Perkins is a long-running daytime radio drama centered on the warm-hearted, practical widow Ma Perkins and the people in her small Midwestern community. Ma runs a lumberyard in the fictional town of Rushville Center, where family concerns, friendships, and local troubles bring neighbors into one another’s lives.

The program unfolds as a continuing serial, with domestic dilemmas and community events developing across episodes. Its intimate radio storytelling relies on dialogue and character relationships, inviting listeners to follow the everyday choices and changing fortunes of Ma and those around her.

Gentle and earnest in tone, Ma Perkins balances emotional moments with the reassuring familiarity of a close-knit town. The episode title, “Shuffle Is Overjoyed,” suggests a moment of happiness within that ongoing world of personal and community life.
