Life with Luigi is a radio comedy centered on Luigi Basco, an Italian immigrant who runs a shoe-repair shop in Chicago while adjusting to life in America. Through Luigi’s experiences and his relationships with people in his neighborhood, the series explores the everyday challenges of belonging, work, and civic life.
The program combines character-driven comedy with situations drawn from Luigi’s efforts to understand American customs and make his way in his adopted country. His earnest outlook and misunderstandings provide the humor, while the surrounding community gives his stories a broader social setting.
Warm and gently satirical, the series balances comic situations with an affectionate portrait of an immigrant building a life in a new place. Its appeal lies in Luigi’s hopeful perspective and the lively contrast between his expectations and the world around him.
