Box 13
Delinquent's Dilemma
by
Dan Holiday, a former newspaper reporter, places an unusual advertisement: “Adventure wanted—will go anywhere, do anything—write Box 13, Star-Times.” The replies bring him into the lives of people facing trouble, mystery, and unexpected danger. Holiday’s curiosity and reporting instincts make him both an investigator and an active participant in the situations he encounters.
Alan Ladd stars in this adventure-mystery series, with Sylvia Picker as his secretary, Suzy. Each story begins with a letter responding to Holiday’s advertisement and develops into a self-contained radio drama, moving from an intriguing problem to investigation and resolution. The format gives the series a steady sense of discovery while allowing its cases to range across different settings and circumstances.
Box 13 combines suspense, action, and a touch of newspaper-office routine. Ladd’s composed performance anchors the stories, while the sound effects and dramatic narration help bring each new assignment to life. It is an inviting choice for listeners who enjoy a resourceful hero, a clear mystery to follow, and the promise of a fresh adventure in every letter.
