The Big Show was a lavish NBC variety program hosted by Tallulah Bankhead, bringing together comedy, music, and dramatic entertainment. Its broad format made room for celebrated performers from different corners of show business, with Bankhead’s distinctive, theatrical presence providing a lively thread through the broadcast.
This recording features Groucho Marx and Judy Garland. Listeners can enjoy the contrast between Marx’s quick, irreverent comic style and Garland’s celebrated singing, within a program designed to showcase a changing lineup of prominent guests and varied performances.
The result is an expansive, polished variety-show experience, balancing humor and music rather than following a single story. Bankhead’s spirited hosting and the mix of guest appearances give the program the feel of a major live radio event.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
