The Family Flivvers to Frisco

5

This is the light-hearted account of the author's trip cross-country, with his wife and small child, from New York City to San Francisco, in a 'flivver', slang for a small, inexpensive, and often somewhat undependable car (in this case, a model-T Ford). Despite dire predictions from friendly advisors before departure, the trio enjoy 37 days of travel, camping, while getting a better view of 'real America'. - Summary by Mark Harrington

A fun look into early cross-country auto touring! Makes me want to pack my camping gear into the car and head for someplace remote where the roads are still rough!
