CBS Radio Workshop
Only Johnny Knows
CBS Radio Workshop was an anthology program that brought original radio drama and adaptations to the air, using the possibilities of sound to tell stories across a range of subjects and styles. Each installment offered a self-contained listening experience rather than following a continuing cast of characters.
The series drew on dramatic performances, narration, dialogue, music, and sound effects to create vivid scenes for the listener. Its title reflects an interest in radio as a creative medium: stories could move between intimate human situations and broader imaginative settings, shaped by voices and carefully constructed audio atmosphere.
With its anthology format, the program offered variety from one broadcast to the next while retaining the immediacy of live-sounding radio storytelling. This recording is identified as “Only Johnny Knows,” an episode title that hints at a story centered on a closely held secret.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
