CBS Radio Workshop
When the Mountain Fell
CBS Radio Workshop was an anthology program that brought a wide range of dramatic and literary material to radio. Each broadcast offered a self-contained listening experience, with stories and adaptations shaped for performance through dialogue, narration, music, and sound effects.
The series drew on varied sources and styles, moving between imaginative fiction, drama, and other forms of storytelling. Its title, When the Mountain Fell, suggests a dramatic episode, while the anthology format makes each installment a distinct work rather than part of a continuing serial.
With its emphasis on crafted performances and radio’s ability to create vivid scenes through sound, CBS Radio Workshop offers an engaging showcase for dramatic storytelling. Listeners can settle into a complete story and experience how voices, atmosphere, and audio detail bring it to life.
