Shell Chateau

Shell Chateau was a radio variety program hosted by Al Jolson, with music and comedy presented in a lavish, theatrical setting. The title evokes the show’s distinctive conceit: a grand “chateau” where Jolson welcomed performers and entertained listeners.
The program combined Jolson’s songs and comic personality with appearances by guest performers. Its variety format offered a changing mix of musical numbers, spoken comedy, and guest turns, rather than a single continuing story. Otto Kruger is identified with this dated entry.
Jolson’s energetic delivery and the show’s polished, show-business atmosphere give the program the feel of a radio stage revue. Listeners can expect a performance-centered broadcast shaped by music, humor, and the interplay between its host and guests.
