Another Air Raid in London

English · Radio

CBS News of the World brings listeners reports from correspondents covering events around the globe. This recording is dated September 19, 1940, during the Second World War, and its title points to an air raid in London.

The program offers a contemporary news broadcast rather than a dramatized story, presenting wartime events in the direct, reportorial style of radio journalism. Its focus on London gives this installment a close view of the conflict as it was being reported to listeners at the time.

For listeners interested in the history of radio news, the appeal lies in hearing a broadcast tied to a specific moment in the war: urgent events conveyed through the concise language and immediacy of the news format.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
