Armadale

The novel has a convoluted plot about two distant cousins both named Allan Armadale. The father of one had murdered the father of the other (the two fathers are also named Allan Armadale). The story starts with a deathbed confession by the murderer in the form of a letter to be given to his baby son when he grows up. Many years are skipped over. The son, mistreated at home, runs away from his mother and stepfather, and takes up a wandering life under the assumed name of Ozias Midwinter."

Reseñas

K Dav
Loved this book. Some of the readers are hard to understand but stick with it, the book is worth it. It is intriguing and captivating!
Best book ever!

I love this book! It had great character is so many twists and turns it made my head spin. But the storyline kept me going I wanted to hear what would happen next I couldn't put the book down. I'm so sad the story is over. I will have to check out more books by this author because it was amazing. The readers were also superb. Thanks Wilke for writing such a great book!
RETRIBUTION WINS!

Avid Listener
First, let the potential reader be warned of serious misinformation presented in the description; the 7 hours furnished should actually be 37 hours (nothing truly surprising since it came from Wikipedia). The story itself is compelling and the length of it is somewhat justified by the meticulous examination of a brilliant, yet warped, mind. Collins again justifies his reputation as a master weaver of mystery and intrigue.
Great story, but read it yourself

A LibriVox Listener
While I loved the novel, the listening experience wasn’t enjoyable. David Barnes & Jordan were great, Alan Winterrowd quite good and easy to understand. However, after trying several of the remaining chapters, I gave up, downloaded the novel to my kindle and read it myself. Struggling to understand what the readers were saying proved to be too frustrating for me.
Stick with it!

Henrietta Higgins
This is such a compelling and fascinating book. Lydia Gwilt's letters and diaries are some of the funniest portrayals of the 19th century gender war you're likely to encounter. Some of the readers in Book 2 are challenging to listen to, but the story itself makes it worthwhile to persevere.
Armadale

A LibriVox Listener
The story is good, some readers (like Valli) are terrible. Valli makes the book uninteresting, she mispronounces, has terrible diction and sounds a like a child learning to read. She also has a very disagreeable voice. I almost decided to skip the chapters read by her.
Excellent Story

A LibriVox Listener
Great story, all the way through. Wilkie Collins is becoming a favorite author of mine. The story of Armadale was interesting from beginning to end. A couple of the readers were difficult to understand, but the vast majority were very good.
Masterpiece

This book was simply incredible. Now that I have finished it (though long), I wish there was more. Wilkie Collins in my opinion is one of the most underrated authors of all times.
