The Prisoner of Zenda tells the story of Rudolf Rassendyll, an English gentleman on holiday in Ruritania, a country not a thousand miles from Bavaria. There, by reason of his resemblance to the King of Ruritania he becomes involved in saving the King’s Life and his Throne from the King’s dastardly brother and his allies. I highly recommend this version of The Prisoner of Zenda. Andy Minter has the most pleasant voice for this tale. One might even believe that he is secretly a Ruritanian. :-)

I had never heard of this author, or book, and listened simply because I'm a fan of Andy Minter. What a fun story! Love, intrigue, duels and treachery. Andy does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life with his reading.

Great story with lots of intrigue, daring-do, pathos, and bloodshed, told first hand in a somewhat self-deprecating and ironic tone. You can see why the book was immensely popular and spawned the “Rutherian” genre, stories set in or involving a mythical Central European kingdom. This is the grandfather of some more recent movies of this type: The Great Race (directly borrows from the book), The Court Jester, The Princess Bride, and The Princess Diaries. This is no comedy, however, quite serious, and well worth the listen, especially as read by Andy Minter.

Angels Walk
This is such a perfect little story, expertly read by LibriVox Volunteer, Andy Minter. It has all the action-adventure-romance aspects one would expect, delighting the average listener, and suitable for youngsters as well.

Can't believe I never heard of this story until recently, that was well written. And in reading it so well, Mr. Minter's voice will always be linked to it for me. Hard to say what exactly was so excellent about it, but I found myself constantly appreciative of his performance, and his service in preserving and presenting this story. A classic tale of adventure and romantic ideals.

An enjoyable listen - the reader's time nis perfect for this style of fiction. Sad to see that Andy Minter the reader has passed away - I am sure that many people will continue to enjoy the recordings he has left behind.

I had never heard of this book until I found it on Librivox. It's a fun short novel full of adventure and humor. Anthony Hope delivers a deadpan British reading that perfectly suits the voice of the narrator.
