Tom Swift is approached by Mr. Preston, the owner of a circus, and begins to tell the story of Jake Poddington, Mr. Preston's most skilled hunter. As it turns out, Jake went missing just after sending word to Preston that Jake was on the trail of a tribe of giants, somewhere in South Africa. That was the last Preston has heard of Jake Poddington. Preston would like Tom to use one of his airships to search for Poddington, and if possible, bring back a giant for the circus. Listeners are forewarned that some elements and characters included in Tom Swift books portray certain ethnic groups in a very dated manner that modern readers, and listeners, may find offensive. Tom Swift is a smart young fellow who loves to get into new adventures. This is another in a long series of them and does not disappoint. If you were a fan of Hardy Boys teen style of story-telling, this is right up there with them. I enjoy the series as a light reading and fun book. This time the boys are off trying to capture a giant while rescuing a missing man. Of course, Tom's enemies are all around and trying to one-up Tom while beating him to the prize. Reader is excellent, enjoy!

I love the stories of our Hero Tom Swift who takes on every situation whether or not if with experience or little to go on with vigor and vim. I have listened to this particular story twice now and it still gave me the same enjoyment as when I first heard it. I just wish that there were more T/S stories read by Tom Weiss, who might I add is a most wonderful narrator. Thank you LibriVox

cool story about BIPOC oppression

This story was written from the perspective of implicit white male privilege. There are no gay orgies. The protagonist , a white male, takes credit for every invention under the sun. In actuallity all his inventions were created by his 'servant' Irradicade Smith, who is a BIPOC who actaully creates all the cool things Tom gets credit for. Irradicade is always keeping the hapless Tom Smith out of trouble. Also Tom is always keeping technology away from immigrants who need to feed their family. Because it was written so long ago, all the evil things Tom does are either white washed or openlly applauded

after a couple tom swift novels they become very predictable and loose a lot of there charm. thanks anyhow Libervox you didn't pick the book for me I did. and will always think LIBERVOX ROCKS⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
