The Secret Garden (version 4 dramatic reading)
Frances Hodgson Burnett
Lu par LibriVox Volunteers

Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic children's novel is about orphaned Mary Lennox, who is sent to live with her uncle at Misslethwaite Manor in Yorkshire. Initially a sour, bad-tempered child, Mary begins to bloom under the influence of nature when she discovers a long-abandoned garden on the grounds of her uncle's estate. Burnett's novel is brought to life by LibriVox volunteers who lend their voices to her characters. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett)

A Great Listen!

Yorkshire Lass
Have never read this book and this is the first time I've listened to a "dramatic reading". wow!! It brings the story alive & some of the readers/actors are great at their parts. Will try to listen to more stories like this.
excellent reading of a classic tale

jaded_grl
a wonderful cast of readers doing a fantastic job. a classic tale that i have watched in movie form. the book starts a little different from the movie but i enjoy it. and while the movie hits at early love among the three children, the book sticks to childish happiness and horseplay. a book many boys may not have interest in unless they love nature.
amazing

So many narrow escapes . Awesome! it's nice to have one person for every character Elizabeth .

Great dramatic recording but the character of Martha is read with a Scottish accent instead of Yorkshire!
Pitch prefect

It's no secret that The Secret Garden is a magical book, and this was an eminently enjoyable rendition. Perfectly cast!
